Walter Block, a longtime resident of Jasper, Alberta passed away on May 29, 2018 at the age of
84 years. Walter was born in Calgary, Alberta on January 5th, 1934.
Walter grew up in Rocky Mountain House and was hired on to the Canadian National Railway in
1952 and retired from VIA Rail in 1990 after 38 years as a Locomotive Engineer. Walter enjoyed
his career on the railway and continued to take an interest in the operations of trains
throughout his life. His love of the railway was expressed by the many stories he told all.
Walter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Millie of 63 years, sons Robert (Janet) and
Dwayne, grandchildren Kendall (Bernt) and Jarrett (Kaitlyn) and great grandchild Jaxon. Walter
is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family of Walter would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Seaton General
Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton for their professional attention and
care.
A Memorial Service will be held
June 22, 2018 at Jasper United Church at 1:30 pm.
